The NEW
MSM© 400 is a complete, state-of-the-art workstation for
micromanipulation in yeast genetics. The MSM series revolutionises
tetrad dissection, pedigree analysis, cell and zygote isolation, cell
progression, and mutant and lifespan studies by automating many of the
repetitive aspects of the necessary procedures. Every detail of the
MSM© 400 has been designed and built for yeast research. The
workstation includes a high quality Integral Microscope with a
specially developed Motor-Driven Stage and purpose-designed, integrated
Micromanipulator. The small footprint means that there is room for an
MSM in even the busiest lab and its speed of use enables one MSM to

The basic functions of the MSM System 400 are controlled with each hand in an ideally comfortable position: One operating the stage joystick and the other the micromanipulator, with both resting on the desktop. ‘Speed-users’ can work “head down” with all controls at each hand and with no need to consult the display. ‘Arcade-users’ with video camera can sit back and dissect from the video image on the screen! Integrated Workstation

Our Motor-Driven Stage has a resolution of 4 microns, repeatability of 2 microns, and a movement that supports the Singer PlusPlates©, Multi-well plates, ANSI/SBS dishes, standard Petri dishes and slides. Standard optics include custom Singer x4 and X20 XLWD flatfield objectives and X15 widefield eyepieces. The microscope has a daylight-white 50,000 hr. LED light source with intensity control, and condenser. Illumination is via a special window in the sub-stage to eliminate airborne contamination. The touch-screen controller has 80GB storage, 1GB RAM and ultra-secure WIFI for online upgrades and support.

Our unique, vibration-free, hinged microscope can be lifted out of the way to allow dishes and slides to be inserted and removed with ease and without breaking needles. It has a pendant, bench top joystick for horizontal needle movements and a co-axial ring for vertical needle control. The Control Joystick

This is a solid, ultra-comfotable joystick that, for speed-users, controls all of the basic functionality of the MSM 400. It boasts three degrees of freedom for X and Y stage movement and drive-mode, two thumb-buttons, and fingertip microscope focussing. The joystick and micromanipulator are used on opposite sides of the stage and can quickly and easily be swapped around for right and left-handed users.
