The Singer Mk1 Micromanipulator is a mechanical device that is most commonly used to manipulate tools to work on samples under stereoscopic microscopes. It offers outstanding levels of performance at magnifications between 1 and 200 diameters.

This instrument simplifies many operations that were previously impossible, difficult or tedious. It may be used singly or in mirror image pairs. The single 'pencil' grip allows intuitive handling and rotation of the tool. The unique three-dimensional pantograph is counter-balanced to provide fine linear and angular hand movements and reduces them by a factor of four. Each operation is smoothly and accurately reproduced without 'backlash' or loss of technique.

Intuitive

mk1x
Learning to use the instrument is easy, particularly as all movements take place in the same direction as the hand. Sufficient dampening of the motion creates a shake-free operation of the tool allowing very accurate manipulation. When the hand is removed from the grip, the instrument stays positioned exactly as left by the operator.

Flexibility

mk1b
The Singer Mk1 will accomodate a wide range of instruments from the finest needle to a shank of up to 9mm regardless of cross-section. The spring-loaded bearings are designed to self compensate for wear, so that servicing is virtually eliminated, and a long operational life is expected.

Use

mk1c This instrument has repeatedly proved its worth in the major laboratories of the world. Its ease of use, and ability to maintain already learned techninques, offer increased accuracy leading to an overally rise in the efficiency of the research programme and much reduced levels of operator fatigue.
